My dear friend
and colleague, John
Beresford, passed away September 2, 2007.
While I had long been opposed to the drug war, it was hearing John speak of the
many drug war prisoners whose stories he had come to know through tireless
correspondence, that inspired me to get involved. John's message is as timely
now as it was In this 1996 KPFK interview with Roy Tuckman.

For over a decade I have been active in the Drug Policy Reform movement.
The Drug War is a failure and doing far more harm than good and I can
prove it with an Etch a Sketch.
In 1998 and 1999 I collected messages from Drug War Prisoners for a CD
I produced for The November Coalition with a grant from the Drug Policy
Alliance. The CD included 3 pages of Drug War Facts .
Here are a few tracks from the CD as mp3s.
Credits and Thank Yous
HOFFMAN: "Tonight was the fourth suicide attempt in 30 days."
DAWN WALT: "The $7,500 from savings, I'm going to order released to the widow."
DAVID CORREA: "I am serving a life sentence +40+20+10+5, without the possibility
of ever making parole."
NANCY MARTZ: "This is the sixth Independence Day I have spent in prison."
TYRONE L. X. LOVE. JR: "In the event I am found dead..."
More prisoner stories here.
The Drug War
is our nightmare. But don't take my word for it.
